Round 6 Wrap

Back on the Podium in Texas!!

What a weekend at Circuit of the Americas! It felt so great to be standing on the podium for both races on the weekend, especially at such an iconic track! For this round Porsche Motorsport North America combined their two Sprint Challenge Series. My series, Porsche Sprint Challenge North America and the other series, Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West.

We showed great pace all through practice but unfortunately, I lost my fastest lap in qualifying which meant we started P6 instead of P4.

The heat throughout the weekend was crazy! It was 42 degrees Celsius so over 105 degrees Fahrenheit. At the start of race 1, the front bumper of my car got so hot from pushing on the rolling start that my front bumper melted. This meant that as soon as we passed the green flag, I got a temperature warning on my dash. This was a little bit distracting, so I didn't get a great start. I dropped back to 7th but managed to get into 4th in the first two laps which was lucky because the rave then went under safety car. We stayed under full course yellow for many laps, before going green again. We only stayed green for half a lap before the race finished under yellow. We were 4th on track but 3rd in Sprint Challenge North America giving us that podium finish we were pushing for.

We started race 2 in P6 again but got a great start almost popping out in 2nd but ultimately settling into the first lap in 3rd. We had one safety car where I dropped back to 5th overall but finished 3rd in Sprint Challenge North America.

This was a great weekend for us and it was a great points haul for the weekend. I cant thank my team enough for the hard work they put in all weekend despite the heat.
